BODY ARCHITECTURE: Introduction to Structural Relationship Assessment - SATURDAY 25 AUGUST 2012
TOPIC: BODY ARCHITECTURE: Introduction to Structural Relationship Assessment
DATE: Saturday 25 August 2012
TIME: 1.00pm - 5.00pm (4 CEC's)
VENUE: Estudio Nuevo/Dance & Movement Centre, 3/206 Whatley Crescent, Marylands WA
PRESENTERS: Karin Sharp-Gurtner
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The body is in a state of constant change and posture the visible expression of our functional, structural and
emotional patterns. In this workshop we will look at the body’s architecture and how each part is relating to
others. We won’t be classifying people as a Sway Back or a Lordotic-Kyphotic postural type, instead we will look
at structural relationships and how balance can be enhanced for the individual.
Perfect symmetry is only a concept. So rather than trying to achieve the impossible (and unavoidably fail), we will
look at real possibilities and a person’s potential for change at the given time. Assessing a person’s body
geometry is a craft that needs practice for mastery. You have to train your eye to see, your hands to recognise
and your intuition to be trusted. This introductory workshop focuses on the visual skills, encouraging you to
develop your other assessment skills from there.
