Chakras are metaphysical centers of energy identified by Ancient Yogis. Modern science has identified nerve plexuses situated at each of these Chakra points. Let's look at these nerve plexuses from an anatomical perspective and marry up Pilates exercises that focus/target these nerve intersections.
Presenter Nell Hoess - “Movement is my medicine”
Nell is a Pilates and Yoga Instructor with a BA Hons in Contemporary Dance. After herniating a lumbar disc in 1992 she started Pilates as a form of rehabilitation and has been practicing The Method ever since. In 1994 she started practicing Yoga, firstly Iyengar then Asthanga. In 2001, she created Fluid Form Pilates which she then sold in 2012. In 2011 she became a Certified Vinyasa Teacher through BodyMindLife, she then trained in the USA and Certified in Baptiste Power Yoga and most recently became a Certified Forrest Yoga teacher. Nell has studied Contact Improvisation, Body Mind Centering, Alexander, Graham and Cunningham Techniques, all of which influence her unique style of teaching. She is a qualified Neurolinguistic Programming Coach and a Certified Workplace Trainer and Assessor. In 2009, Nell began presenting repertoire workshops to Pilates Instructors, assisting teachers to reach their full potential through education, support and encouragement. Nell has a passion for movement and thrives on sharing that passion with others. Her classes focus on embodied anatomy with a sense of freedom in the form and softness in the strength.
