Lynne Rolley Takes Charge as CEO of PTR: A New Era for Tennis Coaching

The Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) has formally named Lynne Rolley as its new Chief Executive Officer, a position she has adeptly filled on an interim basis since March.

As the current chair of the PTR Board of Directors, Rolley boasts an impressive track record spanning over fifty years in coaching and leadership within the tennis sector. Her dedication to advancing coaching education, fostering player development, and enhancing opportunities in racquet sports has earned her a stellar reputation in the international tennis community.

“With Lynne’s leadership, vision, and deep connection to PTR’s mission, we are confident in the future direction of our organization,” remarked Karl Hale, the Vice Chair of the PTR Board. “Her lifelong commitment to coach education and the game itself makes her uniquely positioned to lead PTR into its next chapter.”

Rolley’s professional journey features significant roles, including serving as the Director of Women’s Tennis at the USTA, coaching the Fed Cup Team, and overseeing U.S. National Teams at the PanAm Games. She has made notable contributions at prestigious venues such as Berkeley Tennis Club and Moraga Country Club, and more recently, she held the position of Executive Director of Tennis at La Quinta Resort and PGA West.

A pioneer in her field, Rolley made history as the first woman to coach a men’s NCAA tennis team at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. As an accomplished player, she achieved national Top 10 rankings and claimed numerous titles as the leading junior competitor in the nation.

Throughout her extensive career, Rolley has guided several of the sport’s most prominent athletes, including Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati, Chanda Rubin, and the Williams sisters. Additionally, she has established herself as a respected speaker, author, and educator, contributing to Tennis Magazine and other notable publications, while also hosting her own academy show on Tennis Channel.

In 2020, she received the International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award, acknowledging her impactful contributions to coaching education and the sport of tennis.

Rolley’s appointment as CEO signifies a full-circle moment in her professional journey, having worked closely with PTR founder Dennis Van der Meer during her early coaching career. Over the years, her unwavering commitment to PTR’s mission of education, innovation, and coach development makes her leadership a natural progression in the organization’s legacy.

“I am incredibly honored to accept the role of CEO and continue serving an organization that has played such an important role throughout my career,” Rolley expressed. “I believe we have an incredible opportunity to continue evolving how we support coaches; not just through education, but by creating clear career pathways and providing meaningful resources that help coaches grow, lead, and build lasting futures in racquet sports. I’m excited about the future of PTR, PPR, PCR, and PPTR and the opportunity to continue strengthening our community while helping the next generation of coaches reach their full potential.”

In her new position as CEO, Rolley will steer the ongoing development and strategic vision of PTR and its affiliated organizations, including the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), Professional Platform Tennis Registry (PPTR), and Professional Padel Coaches Registry (PCR). Her emphasis will be on enhancing coach education, enriching member experiences, and expanding career opportunities within racquet sports.
